Firehouse Museum
Max loved this little firetruck in the play area. We went to the museum with Hinckley's preschool class. It was fun except for the creepy wax figures!

Nintendo Addicts
Yes. I have stooped low to survive winter. I busted out my old-school nintendo which I have been carefully preserving for such a time as this. Ammon and Hinckley can't get enough. It's not quite a Wii, but Ammon told be the other day that they could pretend it was their Wii. I had a pretty good laugh at that. Mario Brothers, Dr. Mario, Dragon Warrior, Excitebike, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are their favorite games. I can't wait to put the magic box back in the closet when spring comes!

First Days of School
Okay, so I am really slow posting these pictures, but we had to cancel our internet for a few months, but now I'm back and hope to catch up quickly. This year, Ammon started kindergarten at Thurston, Elementary. His teacher is Ms. Goodly, and he loves it. He gets to ride the bus with his good friend Daanish. I thought it would take him a while to warm up to the idea, but he was ready to hop on the minute he saw another boy waiting at the bus stop. I must admit I cried the second day when he jumped on the bus so eagerly without even giving me a backward glance--so grown-up. But now he blows me a cheerful kiss everyday from his window once he gets seated, and I can handle that.

Max enjoyed trying rice cereal
Max has been dying to eat real people food for a while. He grabs at everything I eat and puckers his lips, and sometimes I can't help it and let him try and lick what I'm eating, but now, as he is officially 5 months old, I let him have some good old rice cereal. It was quite an exciting family affair (Ammon really wanted to feed him), and of course we got it all over his face, but he has been doing a lot of sticking out his tongue ever since.

Speedy the turtle
Speedy was really fast for a turtle. And he was super cute too. He loved to race around the piano legs and under the couch. Dad found him on the side of the road and brought him home, and we let him swim in the bath and couldn't believe how much dirt fell off. Then we built him a nice habitat with a pool and rocks to climb in and out of the pool. Then Mom got on the internet to research how to feed Speedy, and she found out that 90% of reptiles and amphibians carry salmonella, which doesn't make them great pets for young kids. Needless to say, Speedy was taken to the stream behind our house, where he seemed very happy. He was a fun 3-hour pet :)
